High Summer Look

For this look i want to achieve a bronzed natural look, as my brand Bobbi brown is all ab out that. I want to develop my timed assessment images and give them a little bit more rather than being so natural. This image is from 2014, dolce and gabana and micheal kors.
I really like the way the skin glows and looks so bronzed in these images. I like the left image because of the more browner eye, and the right because of the pinker lip. I think i want a combination of the two for my look. This look i feel in keeps with my brand because bobbi brown is about the nudes and the natural blowy bronzed skin which is exactly what this will be.

A brown smokey eye practice. I do like the idea of brown, because it gives something but without being to powerful and over running the look. I want to add more golds and blend more though to give a stinger sense of a summer look.

I prefer the eye in the practice more as its not so brown, though i want more colour to the lip, i don't want it so nude.

Face chart:

For the hair i want it to be look very natural, but also very done at the same time. I want it down with a middle parting and it waved. Very loose, but not fly away so it looks scruffy.
I bought some hair wavers which I'm going to use- i trailed them on myself to see if they gave the effect i wanted. This is exactly how i want it to look. All of bobbi browns images always look effortless. They never look like someone has been there for hours doing the person up so i wanted this to mirror that.

Styling- I want the styling for this image to be very casual. I don't want it to be very done, just a loose top. My ideal background for this would a white, but I'm having to shoot this image at home not the studio.

Final Images:

I was pleased with the way this look came out. I liked all factors towards it and feel it achieved what i wanted my brand to say. I was disappointed with the lighting and the background, which took an impact on the overall images themselves. If i had shoot this look in the studio it would have come out a lot better, but due to my circumstances i wasn't able too. I would maybe change the parting of the hair if i was to do this look again, as its slightly to harsh for what i wanted, i think a side parting would have made it a lot softer.

Daytime Look

My first thoughts on this look was simple, very natural make up. As daytime and Bobbi brown are both those things. However i want a little something to it, making it a more glam daytime look. I really love the images from Dolce and Gabana S/S 2015. They look very simple a natural but with a slight hint of something more. I like the idea of a lip colour and subtle black liner on the eye.

Practice make up, i choose to use a more burgundy pink lip rather than a dark red for a stand out lip because even though i want it to be the main focus of the make up i don't want it to be too much. And i personally would feel like my make up was to heavy for the day time with a red lip.

Face chart:

For the hair i want, like the make up, something very simple and daytime like, because although it would be advertising a worldwide brand so would have to look very professional. I feel like with Bobbi, she wants to relate to women, so it would very real and true to what she was trying to advertise. So if it was daytime, it would be relatable and wearable. Not something over the top just to show off the make up. or hair etc.
So might thoughts we to have a plait of some sort after using plaits and braids quite a lot in our technical classes.
Plaits were really big in s/s 2015 appearing a lot on the catwalks.

This image is from marrisa webb spring/summer 2015. I love the idea of a detailed plait. where theres lots going on.
After a quick experiment, and although i do really like this idea i don't feel like it would be an achievable day look, i want something a lot simpler that a women would be able to achieve in the daytime.
This is an image from peter som 2015, although this is very basic, i like that about it. I want something the everyday women would be able to do on the herself that day. And i feel Bobbi would represent it like that too. She speaks of real women and confidence all the time, so why wouldn't she project real looks.

I decided to to a  high pony tail, with a plait coming from it, instead of a low one like above. I think this will make the look more friendly, day, and approachable.

Hair chart:

Styling- As i want this look to be very realistic i want my model to be styled in the same way. Wearing everyday normal women day clothes. Nothing fancy, very relatable.

Final PRACTICE:

After practicing this look, i think there was a combination of things that i wasn't happy with. The lighting where i had to shoot at home rather that the studio as i was unable to get to southampton. I wasn't happy with the hair design either. I didn't like the highness of it. However i do still like the make up design so i wills stick with that.
If i want to go for a low plait i want to go for something on the side like this, very loose and casual. This time i would do a fishtail plait though instead of a normal plait.
Model- For these images I'm using a model, who is more real and out there to other models. I feel this is something Bobbi Brown would do as she looks for real women. Her pretty powerful campaign is about teaching REAL women to be powerful, through mediums of make up amongst other things

Final Images:

Overall i still wasn't a 100% happy with the outcome in this look. I also had to shoot at home not in the study, which takes a massive effect on the photos i think so i don't know if its partly that. My photography skills aren't great either. I was still quite please with the make up and i don't think i would change a lot there. It was more the hair i am still unhappy with with these images. I feel there is something missing. Maybe if i shoot this look again i would add accessories to the hair like in our technical lesson. That might bring something more to the design.

Product Look

After researching Bobbis many products to find the one i wanted to base this look around, i found i was really intrigued with the kind of look i could create with her 'beach' range. She has a selection of beach body oils, shower gels and lotions which is the product range i have chosen for this look. I want this look to really portray this beach range by the hair and make up, but i want it to feel glam and sexy at the same time rather than cute and girly like my spring shoot.

My first thoughts when thinking about putting these products into my design inspiration was that because its a beach range, the face would be slightly wet, or more dewy rather than matte giving a beach/summer effect. I know that usually beach products would signify not a lot of make up, but i want this shoot to look sexy and glam and pull beach elements in with it too.

I love the right hand side image here from prada s/s 2015. Although she has quite a heavy eye, the nude lip and dewy base along with the hair styling and pose gives a more sexier vibe, but in a casual way. Which is what i want to go for.
I didn't know how heavy to go or so i did a trial.

I don't feel after this practice that the eye is heavy enough, i want a darker eye. But i like the base and the lip.
So with the more dewy face a black smokey eye with a nude lip.
Another image i came across which inspired this look was an design i found on instagram from unskilled worker. Which is an art illustration. Although its far more exaggerated than the look I'm going for, elements really caught my eye for what I'm trying to achieve. I like the way it looks like the make up would have run from the water if it was a real face.

Face Chart:

For the hair i don't want anything structured at all. I want it to be very undone. This image below from versus versace s/s 15 they have very 'messy' hair. I also want to wet the hair slightly to bring in my beach products, the oils. and i want the hair brought over to one side.

For the styling, i don't want my model having any clothes on show. I feel this would give a more sexier appeal, which isn't always Bobbi, but i think works with the products of hers I'm trying to advertise. I want a black background for this shoot as i feel that would ad to the overall mood of the images.

Final images:

I was really pleased with how the look came out and feel i achieved the concept that i was aiming for. I feel it in keeps with my brand because although the eye is heavy the base is very natural and clean with a  sight bronze cheek.

A short spend up video of my model rubbing off her make up.

Trends lecture

Today we were shown some upcoming trends in our lecture. The trends that we were shown were Hyper real beauty, alternative cat eyeliner, perfect smoke, purple gaze and bold summer berry lips.

Here is one of my favourite images from all of them and why.
Hyper real beauty:
I like this image by valentine and this trend in particular because it really in keeps with the brand i want to do. Bobbi brown is all about the natural beauty and this trend is exactly that. Just slightly enhancing whats already there. Its very minimal and i feel something i will be using a lot throughout this project.

Cat Eye liner:
I really like the image above by Christian dior because its not so extreme as the other eyeliner looks. I like the idea of using a pastel eyeliner on the eye like this as this still looks subtle and soft. Where most other eyeliners can look harsh and take to much focus. This could be an idea for one of my designs, i think using the pastel to nude colour palette though, as any thing stronger would not fit my brand.

Perfect Smoke:

Dian Von Furstenburg creates this smokey eye, which i really love. Im a massive fan anyway, because you can change the extremity of the colour to suit different situations. A more subtle smokey eye for the day, then at night a more dramatic colourful smokey eye. They are vast and can really create a great make up look. I think ill be using it quite a lot with my looks as bobbi is very natural so to give my looks something more, rather than them all being like the hyper real beauty, a perfect smoke in different colours shades and textures would really transform them.

Purple Gaze:
Derek Lam creates this look, which is a lovely shade of purple. I like the naturalness of it, as it not what you would think it would be. It shows you can still create a natural look with colours like purple. I will aim to experiment with colours to see what ones can still flow well with my brand and there ethos and not be to powerful.

Spring Look

My inspiration for this look came from some spring trends, firstly i liked a high impact lip with a natural base which is a trend from spring 2015. Because bobbi isn't always about the nudes, they have a variety of great lip colours too so i want a lip that stands out but not a bright red, i don't want it to be to overstated and take away from the rest of the look. I also want it quite glossy.

A couple images from Bobbi Brown Instagram where she states about bold colourful lips for spring.

This image is from Carolina Herrera, i love the lip colour as its not to much and doesn't take away from the rest of the look.

For my spring look i want it to be look really natural and clean, but have some element of colour. For the make up i want a pink glossy lip giving that spring vibe, with element of pink in the eye, but only subtly because i don't want it to look to over the top. I want it too look clean and finished which is what bobbi is all about, that natural beauty look.

Face chart:
Make up test:

I want the hair to be in a slick pony tail.

Although after trailing this hairstyle in my class i felt like its too harsh for the look i want to go for. I want a more playful subtle look and i think the high pony tail isn't friendly enough and creates a different look, which doesn't in keep with my brand. I still want the hair to be very finished though and a ponytail, so i started looking for other ways to achive this but to still in keep with the spring look. Spring 2015 trend was a low pony tail. Oscar De La Renta used this look in his shows this year.
Although i still feel even though its lower which defiantly makes it less harsh it still isn't what I'm looking for.

I found this image from GUCCI spring 2015 and i love it. I love the way the parting and changing the placement of the ponytail instantly makes it look more subtle and approachable.

http://www.vogue.com/3102391/spring-2015-beauty-guide-best-trends-fashion-week/

I am going to stick with it but lower it but change the placement to the side instead of the lower back just to make it slightly more my own. I feel this will give it the look I want and in keep with the naturalness bobbi browns brand is.

Make up mood board:

I know i want a white background for this shoot because i want the whole thing to look very clean and tidy. I think if the background was any other colour it wouldn't in keep with the feel of the shoot that I'm aiming for. I think either i want my model to wear a pastel colour, but i don't know if this will look to washed out with the white background. So i might style her in black so the model and background don't all blend into one.

Final images:

I was really happy with the way my images came out. I feel they in keep with everything i was going for and I'm really glad i changed the hairstyle, to the low side pony tail instead of the high scraped back one with no parting, as this is a much softer look. I think the base is very natural and fits in with my brand and although its not complexity nudes which Bobbi Brown is known for i feel the pinks and the soft pink and brown smokey eye still give a real sense of the brand. I tried the light blue top but whilst shooting after trying the black i felt this looked better.
